•Mixed mode fatigue crack propagation using the extended finite element method (XFEM)•Fatigue crack propagation simulation by means of the Geq and Walker models.•β and γ coefficients were modified in the calculation formula of Geq.•The probability results are validated by Weibull distribution with fixed loading ratio.•Experimental and numerical results are compared.
