•Intraperitoneal injection of FGF2 ameliorated the coagulation abnormalities in septic mice.•FGF2 pretreatment significantly reduced the expression of TF and PAI-1 induced by LPS in mice and macrophages.•FGF2 suppressing the AKT/mTOR/S6K1 signaling pathway in septic mice and RAW264.7 cells stimulated by LPS.
