Validity of isothermal kinetic prediction by advanced isoconversional method

•Isothermal kinetic predictions were performed by using the advanced isoconversional method.•The effects of reaction type, set temperature and range of heating rates on predicted accuracy were evaluated.•The predictions of the single-step and multi-step reactions are conducted.•The reason of failure on isothermal prediction is given.
