Bio-inspired supramolecular metallopeptide hydrogel promotes recovery from cutaneous wound

•A supramolecular metallopeptide hydrogel (Supra GHK-Cu) was developed by metal coordination and peptide assembly.•Molecular dynamics simulation indicates the multiple coordination patterns between supramolecular peptides and Cu2+.•Supramolecular metallopeptide showed excellent biostability and wound healing properties.•Supra GHK-Cu exemplifies a successful bio-inspired supramolecular metallopeptide hydrogel.•An alternative strategy to overcome the limitations of traditional bioactive metallopeptides.
