•The material is added with 6.5 % Cu, 2 %Ni, and trace amounts of Ti, Zr, and V.•The Al7Cu4Ni on the grain boundary in the material has good heat resistance.•Al7Cu4Ni, θ'-Al2Cu, and Al3M (M = Ti, Zr,V) improve the high-temperature properties.
