Evaluation of the kinetics of unseeded batch cooling crystallization using population balance modeling: Sucrose and KNO3 case studies

•Evaluation method for crystallization kinetics of unseeded batch crystallizations by measuring the average size and mass of crystals as a function of time was developed.•Reformulation of PBE for average size and mass of crystals as a function of time.•Developed method can be applied various scales.•Simulation results for various conditions are provided to predict crystallization behaviors.
