U-Pb detrital zircon ages and Hf isotope from Sardinia and Adria Cretaceous bauxite (Italy): Constraints on the Alpine Tethys paleogeography and tectonic evolution

•New zircon U-Pb age and Hf isotope data from bauxite deposits in Adria and Sardinia, Italy.•Bauxite deposits in Sardinia show a parental affinity of Variscan metasedimentary basement.•Bauxite deposits in Adria were mainly supplied from coeval volcanic materials.•Diversity of provenances in bauxite deposits may cause differences in geochemical composition.
