Comparison of the effect of three steroid regimens on cardiac function in Duchenne muscular dystrophy

•The optimal steroid treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy is not defined.•We reviewed our experience with three different therapies.•We confirm the delay in development of ventricular dysfunction with steroids.•Deflazacort seems to show a beneficial effect compared to other steroid therapies.
