MOVING BEYOND RED LIGHT, GREEN LIGHT: 2022 UPDATE ON PHARMACOGENETICS AND ITS EMERGING ROLE IN ANTIDEPRESSANT TREATMENT

The field of pharmacogenomics (PGx) remains elusive to many clinicians even though the industry has expanded the availability and marketing of this testing to clinicians. The utilization of PGx testing by practitioners has increased, often with inadequate knowledge of the underlying science behind the gene findings, the studies that have identified relevant gene-medication pairs, or the best approach for applying the test results. This presentation will review the basic science of PGx and emerging data supporting relevant gene-medication pairs, with a focus on antidepressant treatment.
