Finite-time stability of dynamical system under event-triggered hybrid control

•An improved hybrid event-trigger mechanism is introduced.•A novel hybrid controller involving impulsive control and sampling control is designed under the event-triggered mechanism.•A novel lemma, which can be used to design finite-time control term without sign function, is proposed.•An improved finite-time stability criterion is derived, which may decrease the conservatism of the existed result.
