Hybrid Optical Nanocavities forReflective Displays

We present a new type of optical metal-insulator-metal nanocavities that provide a tunable reflection peak in the visible and corresponding reflective structural coloration. The system may be particularly useful for reflective displays in color. The integration with conductive electrochromic polymers in a hybrid structure may allow active tunability of the cavity.
