摘要
Electronic Data Record (EDR) constitutes an alternative to store vehicle's sensing information, helpful in scenarios involving diagnostics, events reconstitution, and forensics analysis. However, most EDR solutions are centralized. This model can be hard to access and even compromise information when the vehicle is seriously damaged. As an alternative, this paper introduces BEDR, a blockchain-based EDR solution that storages vehicle information in a distributed and secure way. BEDR explores the concept of vehicles clustering in Vehicular Networks (VANETs), creating short-lived blockchains whenever vehicles form a group. BEDR consensus includes all group members and relies on a dynamic reconfiguration to permit each vehicle to submit transactions, propose new blocks and vote for the next block in the chain. We also perform a practical experiment, implementing BEDR in the Hyperleger Iroha platform. We integrate this implementation with VANET simulation tools to evaluate BEDR performance's critical aspects, including the vehicles' group size and duration. Results point out BEDR with fair performance in Iroha, being a promising alternative for creating distributed BEDR. Moreover, BEDR creates the possibility of exploring a new mobility datadriven business model, which shall be the topic of future studies.
