•Childbirth PTSD is under-recognized in routine maternal post-partum care•Our findings provide novel evidence that the BiTS is a reliable, valid, and acceptable measure of CB-PTSD symptoms among Australian mothers.•High internal consistency was found for the total scale, as well as two subscales indexing BRS and GS.
