Determination of acaricides in honeys from different botanical origins by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry

•A GC–MS method was proposed and validated for determining acaricides in honey.•Different sample treatments were recommended depending on honey botanical origin.•Matrix effect was only significant for α-endosulfan in dark honeys.•The LOQs were lower than MRLs established by the European Union.•τ-fluvalinate residues were found in most of the analyzed honeys (LOQ-23 µg kg−1).
