摘要
•Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and Parkinson are related but mechanistic links are unknown.•Rat models and patients of MetS show increased levels of AT1 receptor autoantibodies.•Increase in serum AT1 autoantibodies induced blood–brain barrier disruption.•AT1 autoantibodies increase nigral proinflammatory activity and neurodegeneration.•Angiotensin receptor autoantibodies are a link between MetS and Parkinson’s disease.
