Lung cancer screening by low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scan has been initiated in several countries around the globe after large-scale studies revealed a significant decrease in mortality and earlier stages of diagnosis with a better prognosis.1–4 Although only a few countries have initiated national LDCT screening programs, others such as Japan, South Korea, Belgium, and the Netherlands have contributed to large screening trials (Table 1).1,5 Furthermore, the governments of multiple countries including Australia and Italy have recently committed to initiate national screening programs.
