Photothermal expansion nanospectroscopy with a tunable mid-infrared quantum cascade laser is employed to acquire the infrared nanospectroscopy spectra of individual oligomers of a DNA-binding protein relevant for neurological diseases. Oligomers down to 100 nm diameter and 10 nm thickness are targeted leveraging on the high lateral resolution provided by the nanospectroscopy approach.
