One-step microwave-assisted synthesis of CNTs-Fe-Fe 3 C nanocomposites for rapid detection of uric acid

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-Fe-Fe 3 C composites were prepared from ferrocene by one-step microwave-assisted method. A novel electrochemical sensor based on CNTs-Fe-Fe 3 C composite modified glassy carbon electrode had been fabricated for rapid determination of uric acid (UA). The nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray spectrometers (XPS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), Raman spectrum, scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) mapping, and transmission electron microscope (TEM) techniques. Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) method was adopted to measure its sensing property and the sensor displayed a good linear concentration range between 50 nmol/L and 50 μmol/L with a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 24 nmol/L. The fabricated sensor was applied to the detection of UA in the urine of normal people with high accuracy and satisfactory result. The average recoveries ranged from 90.05 to 107.17% and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were 1.24 ~ 2.77%.
