Engineered mesoporous hollow carbon spheres for pollutant degradation: Disclosing catalytic activity, matrix effect, transport, and aquatic ecotoxicity

摘要
•Persulfate (PS) activation by mesoporous carbon hollow spheres (MCHS) was investigated.•MCHS showed tetracycline (TC) degradation at low catalyst dosage (10 mg L−1).•TC degradation in PS/MCHS system occurred via non-radical pathway.•MCHSs have good transportation capacity in ISO sand column.•Toxicity tests showed that MCHS had no adverse effects on D. magna morbidity.
