Peratrial device closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defects via a small right subaxillary incision: Midterm results in patients <12 months of age

•Peratrial device closure of ventricular septal defects via right subaxillary is safe and effective for infants.•The key technique is to establish a delivery pathway from the right atrium to the left ventricle with a hollow probe.•A total of 263 cases（98.1%）were successfully occluded under real-time transesophageal echocardiography guidance.•During the follow-up, there was no new aortic valve regurgitation and atrioventricular block.
