Exposure, but not timing of exposure, to a sulfonylurea herbicide alters larval development and behaviour in an amphibian species

•The toxicity of nicosulfuron on amphibian development is evaluated.•Higher concentration of nicosulfuron altered tadpoles body proportions.•Timing of exposure did not affected tadpole development.•Exposed tadpoles showed erratic swimming behaviour.
