摘要

•CRISPR/Cas was used to target MCT8 (slc16a2) in the frog Xenopus laevis.•The L and S alloalleles had 29-bp and 20-bp frameshift mutations.•Complete MCT8 knockout adults lacked apparent neurobehavioral defects.•Thyroid hormone-dependent external morphological development was unaffected.•No effects on tissue sensitivity or responsivity to thyroid hormone were observed.
