Impact of Residual Phase of Stokes-space-based Polarization Demultiplexing on Carrier Phase Recovery Methods

We investigate the influence of the residual phase induced in blind Stokes-space-based polarization demultiplexing on different carrier phase recovery methods, and numerically show that conventional blind phase searching (BPS) and BPS based on Kullback-Leibler divergence (KL-BPS) are robust to this residual phase while the performances of Kalman filtering, principal-component based phase estimation (PCPE), and PCPE-BPS are degraded.
