摘要

•DLCO is affected by barometric pressure and alveolar partial pressure of oxygen.•We measured DLCO in normal and COPD subjects between sea-level and up to 3600 m.•DLCO significantly increased with increasing altitude.•We provide equations that accurately adjust DLCO for changes in altitude.
