摘要
In this chapter, research methodology and teaching methodology are discussed as two separate but clearly connected methodologies when doing educational research. This is illustrated by two educational projects where students' lived democracy is facilitated. One is about student engagement in road safety, the other is about how youngsters deal with the challenge of oil exploitation in Lofoten. Both the Oil Exploitation project and the Road Safety project focus on the democratic competence of students and their democratic education in and outside school, but the relationship between teaching methodology and research methodology is different in the two projects. It turns out that the methodological processes become more complex and demanding when the educators are in charge of both teaching and research. They have to be flexible when handling unforeseen issues. Educational methodologies are not static, they have to embrace unpredictability.
