Sudden induction motor failures lead directly to production line stoppage and deterioration of product yield. Motor current signature analysis (MCSA) technology has been proposed to detect abnormalities to avoid these problems. To date, many theoretical and experimental studies of various motor failures have been conducted. However, there have been very few reports on the test results of motors in actual factory operation. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the stator current power spectrum of motors for pumps and fans in actual operation before and after maintenance. We discuss the changes in the distinctive features before and after maintenance, and verify the validity of the MCSA method for detecting abnormalities in pump and fan equipment.
