Simultaneous Effect of Wind and Photovoltaic Installed Capacity Growth on the Adequacy of New Energy

Aiming at the related problems caused by the high proportion of new energy connected to the power system, an adequacy evaluation index model is constructed based on the system reliability, new energy consumption, and peak-to- valley difference in this paper. Then, real-data analysis is carried out under different penetration rates of new energy. The impact of the wind and photovoltaic installed capacity with their corresponding proportions in the total installed capacity for a certain province in China on the power supply adequacy index of the power grid is studied. It is shown that the reliability indices and the new energy consumption rate arise with the continuous increase of the penetration rate of new energy.
