Harmonic Analysis in Power System Using SWIFT-PLL Technique

A closed-loop Sliding Window Infinite Fourier Transform Phase Locked Loop (SWIFT-PLL) is employed to extract the fundamental and its harmonics content in a distorted power signal. A fast and accurate harmonic analysis would help in maintaining the standard power quality without any damage to the operating instruments. Determining and mitigating the harmonics by the use of compensators would result in an efficient power distribution system. A SWIFT-PLL is designed with an intent to determine the n th harmonic components present the signal. The imaginary part of the signal is reconstructed and is passed through the phase detector and a PI controller is employed to remove the error. A Sampling Pulse Generator (SPG) is used to adaptively modify the sampling frequency to achieve synchronization among different blocks. The simulation results are validated through software implementation in MATLAB/SIMULINK for different scenarios.
