Monkey Jack (Artocarpuslakoocha)

Monkey jack is a tropical minor fruit getting more scientific attention in South and South-East Asian countries after the unveiling of its phytonutrient or phytochemical importance. In this chapter, the fruit’s importance in Bangladesh is discussed in relation to its nutritional, medicinal, therapeutic and edible values. Specifically, nutritional composition data from four studies, and phytonutrient data from eight studies has been gathered and is here discussed. Also addressed is the fact that due to its ability to endure adverse climatic conditions and a wide range of soils, this fruit can play an important role in feeding the increasing population by extending the growing season and area of propagation.
