•The surface superhydrophobicity of LPBF-NiTi alloy was achieved for the first time.•The root cause of the change in wettability is the adsorption of surface CC/CH groups.•The realization of superhydrophobic on the surface of LPBF-NiTi alloy can significantly improve the corrosion resistance.
