•Convolution neural network used for the chest computed tomography pictures for the screening of COVID 19 in this paper.•Various foundation models like VGG16, VGG19, Densenet121, InceptionV3, Xception, and Resnet50 used.•VGG16 model found 98% accurate as compared with other models.
