摘要

•The Basic Psychological Need Frustration Scale in Active Commuting to and from School was validated.•Results supported a 12-item three-factor correlated model.•Results showed composite reliability, measurement invariance and predictive validity.•Need satisfaction and need frustration co-occur in active travel to school.•Primary students scored higher in competence and relatedness need frustration for active commuting to school.
