摘要
Thyroid radiofrequency (RF) ablation is an effective treatment option for benign symptomatic thyroid nodules (1). The procedure is performed under ultrasound (US) guidance using the moving-shot technique. RF ablation of large solid nodules exceeding 4 cm in maximal dimension can take an extended time, over 45 minutes, to ablate most of the nodule. Continuous US monitoring is performed throughout the procedure to assess the progress of ablation. Moreover, the impedance from the RF ablation generator is monitored for roll-off and charring of tissue.
