Phase and Amplitude Trimming of Photonic Integrated Circuits Using Phase Change Materials

摘要
Nonvolatile rewritable phase change materials are ideal for post-fabrication trimming of photonic integrated circuits by locally tuning the waveguide effective index. Using electrically configurable phase shifters based on Sb 2 Se 3 , we demonstrate devices with <0.3 dB insertion loss and “active” trimming in both phase and amplitude.
