摘要

•A new strategy for contactless supports in LPBF of metals is presented and validated.•The downfacing surface quality of LPBF parts can be significantly improved, whilst also optimizing productivity.•The new support procedure is only applicable for horizontal or slightly titled (max. 10°) downfacing surfaces and for slender geometries.
