•The Strauss criteria better defined LBBB for predicting CRT response.•The absence of S wave in V5 and V6 with Strauss criteria increased specificity and positive predictive value for predicting CRT response.•The Selvester score showed an inverse relationship with CRT response.•LVEF and QRS duration were independently associated with CRT response.
