摘要

•The coupled effects of the evolution of cooperation and the evolution of fairness are studied.•A moderate unfairness best favors the evolution of cooperation under discrete strategies.•Cooperators prevail by acting fairer than defectors in a spontaneous manner under continuous strategies.•The population evolves into a less unfair state for the coexistence of cooperators and defectors.
