摘要
Overview Malignancies of the thymus gland comprise a group of uncommon but heterogeneous diseases with variable clinical behavior. Recent collaborative efforts have helped to create consensus histopathological and staging criteria. Furthermore, developments in molecular and gene signature technology have helped us to better understand the pathogenesis of thymic tumors. Diagnosis and treatment frequently require a multidisciplinary approach, with surgery, radiation, and systemic therapy all having a synergistically important role. While there are several chemotherapy regimens available for first‐line treatment for advanced‐stage or recurrent disease, numerous novel chemotherapeutics, immunotherapeutics, and targeted therapies are being evaluated. In this article, we provide a comprehensive overview of the histopathology, diagnosis, and management of most intriguing tumors.
