Novel circuit design for reversible multilayer ALU in QCA technology

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) technology is a candidate technology for implementing nanoscale electronic circuits. Arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is also an important element in digital circuits. The purpose of this study is designing a new efficient multilayer reversible ALU (RALU) in the QCA technology. The proposed RALU is designed in three layers and contains four units, XOR, OR, AND and full adder. According to results, the developed QCA RALU is evaluated using QCADesigner tool version 2.0.3. The developed QCA RALU requires 0.12 µm 2 area, 198 QCA cells, and 1.5 clock cycles. The comparison reveals that the developed QCA RALU has advantages over existing QCA circuits with regard to cell count, latency, area, and cost.
