Predictive models on the influence of laser texturing parameters on the Inconel 718 surface by using Nd: YVO4 laser

•Textured areas were produced for further introduction of reinforcement materials.•High-quality Inconel 718 surface grooves were produced by using a Nd: YV04 laser.•The use of 0.06 and 0.96 W and 500 and 2000 mm/s laser parameters promote laser ablation.•The grain size was greatly affected by increasing laser power (from 0.06 to 0.96 W).•Development of width and depth mathematical models of the surface grooves.
