摘要
The implementation of mitigation protocols in the event of the outbreak of viral epidemics typically comes only after a significant number of infected persons have been diagnosed, within which period the infection may have spread significantly over the population. The One Health initiative provides an alternative approach to this challenge. Based on the recent advances in biosensor technology capable of accurate real-time viral diagnosis, and the advances on the internet of things technology (IoT), this paper proposes the development of a pervasive biosensor network deployed at the animal habitats in communities and strategic positions in the environments. This enables the early detection of infectious diseases and the implementation of mitigation protocols. The model simulation results show that the use of IoT-based biosensor network to inform the implementation of the epidemic mitigation protocol ensures the reduction in infection rate and the cumulative number of infected persons in each population.
