Enablers and barriers to prevent weight-regain post bariatric surgery – A qualitative enquiry

•Weight loss contributed to improved quality of life, confidence, and happiness.•Participants did not anticipate weight-regain post bariatric surgery.•Participants experienced isolation at social, family, and cultural events centred around food.•Problematic eating behaviors affected weight gain despite the surgical adaptations.•Discharge from bariatric services occurred when participants needed the most support.
