An exploration of the needs and experiences of informal caregivers for Black breast cancer patients

•We held focus groups and interviews with caregivers of Black breast cancer patients.•Most caregivers were female family members of the patient.•Caregivers had inconsistent knowledge about resources for patients and caregivers.•Some caregivers reported experiencing discrimination or working to forestall it.•Caregivers had positive reactions to survivorship care plans.
