Eight-membered fused pyrimidine derivatives and their biological properties

Among this fusion class, pyrimidine-fused eight-membered hetero-aromatic ring fused pyrimidines derivatives have not been sufficiently investigated. Despite bioactivity being reported in a handful of studies so far, it has not been explored much. The major reason highlighted for this gap again includes entropic factors, along with transannular interactions and unsatisfactory synthetic procedures. So, it becomes very important to disclose the biological and medicinal properties of eight-membered fused-pyrimidine heterocycles. This chapter summarizes the progress of eight-membered heterocycles fused with a pyrimidine ring and their biological properties.
