Impact of complex irradiation scenarios on the structure and the properties of the International Simple Glass

•The impact of high beta irradiation doses on the structure and macroscopic properties of the ISG glass has been studied.•The modifications induced by beta decays on the structure and macroscopic properties of ISG glass are similar to those induced by a recoil nucleus (of the alpha decays) but of weaker intensity.•The use of double external irradiation enables to simulate the impact of both beta decays and recoil nuclei of alpha decay.•There is no sequential coupling or synergistic effect of electron irradiation and nuclear collisions induced by heavy ion irradiation on the glass damaged state.
