Smart mask for temperature monitoring with LoRa backscattering communication

The global pandemic that we are currently experiencing has brought many changes in people's lives. Among these changes, probably the most visible is the widespread use of masks. This paper presents a smart mask prototype for remote monitoring of people's temperature. The system is intended to be an efficient alternative solution to the slow and inaccurate method used to check people's temperature with infrared thermometers at the entrance to public places. The smart mask consists of three thermistors that measure the temperature inside the mask, outside the mask, and on the skin. A microcontroller processes the data and transmits them using LoRa backscattering. Commercial LoRa transceivers can be used for this application.
