Single-Side Band Space-Time-Modulated Metasurfaces for Doppler Cloak

In this paper, a new design of a single side band (SSB) space-time-modulated metasurface is proposed. We apply the SSB model to design the time sequences of the “modulation elements”. Then, 2-bit dynamically controled unit-cells are employed to realize the design. In particular, we show that artificial Doppler frequency shifts can be achieved accurately and effectively, being the amplitude of the first order harmonic 9.54 dB higher than the ones of the other order harmonics. The proposed designs have potential applications in wireless communications, radar camouflaging, and cloaking.
