摘要
•The ice accretion characteristics on an ACSR power transmission cable are investigated experimentally.•The effects of the twisted outer strands of ACSR cable on the ice accretion process are examined.•A 3D scanning system is used to quantify the 3D shapes of ice structures accreted on the cable surface.•A digital PIV system was used to characterize the wake flow behind the iced cable model.•The variations of the aerodynamic drag acting on the iced cable model are characterized quantitatively.
