•A negative influence of low-temperature walls on the ignition process.•SWI leads to a smaller SMD and more small and large droplets.•Heat transfer between the wall and spray significant impacts the ignition process.•SWI primarily affects the heat accumulation of the LTR.•Air entrainment rate increases first and then decreases with the increase of wall temperature.
