Twinning-induced plasticity (TWIP) effect in multi-phase metastable beta Zr-Nb alloys

During the last decades,a large amount of scientific works had been devoted to β-type Zr and Ti alloys for biomedical applica-tions due to their high strength,good corrosion resistance,low magnetic susceptibility and superior biocompatibility[1].A strat-egy dedicated to a general improvement of mechanical properties on Ti-based alloys had been achieved by introducing twinning-induced plasticity(TWIP)and transformation-induced plasticity(TRIP)effects via metastability control of the β matrix.
